Falcon Ice

(for Anders - # 10)

By J. Carlstad 2008

A streak through the day

Makes the world seem so bright

That speeding black silhouette

Fast as the light

Binding life, play and purpose

All under one sun

With a feint, dive, and kill

forceful yet fun

 Smooth is his flight

Sense of grace, sense of style

Purpose and power

Few would dare to defile

His skates grip the ice

Like talons in flesh

Fused with practice and skill

Force and speed would then mesh

And with smooth easy stride

He moves in for his goal

Stick handling his prey

With lethal control

Striking his mark

Blades glint like the sun

As through each play

Boy and falcon seem one.

 Yet good humor,

humility, his golden rule

helps build team morale

the ultimate jewel

The falcon, spirit of the sky

bears the journey of the boy inside

upon himself he must rely

on his journey, on this ride

but the boy who plays upon his team

brings thought to every day

and helps his team laugh, learn, and try

their best in every way...

And so we watch this spirit soar

though caught in our own vice

and know what it is to see and learn

upon the falcon ice. Edit Text
